Great location! For those going from here to La Porte - yes, there is a road, but it is steep, rocky, and needs some experience and a reliable vehicle to cross. We were able to make it with our Jeep WK2 3.6L, in 4Low gear, stock except for the bigger mud tires.
The first two miles are the hardest ones. When crossing, we had to stop around 4 times to let the engine cool down, it was getting to 230F pretty quickly. The last thing you want there is to have a cooling system problem.

Came in on dirt bikes, the jeep road is super nasty! We then rode a challenging technical trail out. Think it was called the sunshine trail. Great place for dirt bikes! Easy to get lost so run GPS tracking and have good map of area.

Nice stream, good place to camp, four wheel drive only on access roads. This place is not easy to get to. Ragged road going in from the North and pretty much the same from the South. There is a stream crossing involved that will be dangerous if the water is high.

Really cool swimming hole. However it does show you the destruction that mining culture used to have. The bugs weren't too bad. The campground was full when we got there.
