I had a nice work lunch at Kiya
I was checking on yelp and this amazing cool Japanese cuisine popped up.

I ordered the sashimi box on the blackboard as the recommendations. The fish are very fresh and delicious

Beef Udon: the beef is a bit hard but the soup and udon is pretty good. Next time I will do just Udon

Uni Otoro hand roll: $10 for ikura Uni Otoro hand roll is pretty decent!

It is such a nice experience eating in Kiya. The service is great and vibes is relaxing !

I was here on a Friday night dinner with my son. It's a small place and there were a lot of people inside but luckily we didn't have to wait. The service is great. We were seated with a menu and the waitress quickly asked about the drinks. I ordered hot sake and my son ordered coke. We were served with edamame and when the drinks arrived I ordered spicy tuna and salmon roll. My son ordered the chicken karaga and spicy chicken dinner which comes with rice, salad and miso soup. I felt the rolls were a little dry. Otherwise it was a great experience and I may try to come again to try their specials from their menu. The staff is great and really good with customer service. The price is reasonable too. There's parking available but most of them are for takeout parking sake as it has 15-20 minutes marking on it.

Food here was pretty good. It’s pretty comparable to Oh Fish Fish Sushi Kitchen in San Lorenzo. Every food item came in fresh, delicious. Hand rolls were unexpectedly good. Overall pricing was fair.

The only downside to this shop is the service. Walked into the shop and had no waiter came to attend awaiting customers seated at the front door for a seat. Maybe cause they’re short staffed and had minimal seats. But not even acknowledging customers or directing customers where the waiting sheet is had customers wandering off around the shop and evidently leaving.

Overall experience was 4/5 with the food making up with the first impression plus the green tea ice cream that was given after the meal.

Both the deluxe chirashi don and deluxe hand roll are mediocre by Bay Area standards (maybe 3.5/5 or 4/5), but they are among the best in Fremont, where good sushi is hard to find. The fish isn't as fresh as I expected, but it's acceptable. The portions are generous, and the sushi rice is well seasoned, though the nori on the hand roll is too soft. Service is okay but can be improved.

I heard that this place opened recently, which is about 1.5 years now. The place looks alright since that’s how a Japanese restaurant typically looks like especially if it’s small.

I was quite surprised how big the serving size is from the Chicken Teriyaki dinner plate (didn’t finish it). No wonder it’s expensive. The food tastes fresh and nice, but I honestly believe that they should lessen the salt of the edamame. Also like the taste of sashimi and California Roll.

Nothing special but decent tasting sushi. I’m not a huge sushi expert but the ones I’ve gotten have been decent. They are also on the more affordable side of restaurants so I can’t complain. If you need some 3.5/5 tasting sushi but don’t want to go anywhere far from Fremont, this is the spot

Tuesday evening. Didn’t have to wait. I looked at the menu online and prices were so good and it was nearby so I wanted to try it. The plain udon is $7.95!! And it’s big. They aren’t trying to overcharge. I got the big scallop roll and the super California roll. Baked scallop is usually my favorite but here I liked the super California roll better. These rolls at other places are $16-17 each. Here they were $12.95 and $11.95. It was a nice treat to have green tea ice cream as a treat on the house after. If in the area, I would come back to try other things.

PSA: they allow you to split the bill.

The sushi lunch roll combo is such great value I've ordered it almost every time I've come here. Food is good, service is solid, and ice cream is complimentary. Really nothing to hate about the place.
