Don’t buy the membership - at any level. Membership is just a gatekeeper. You buy it thinking now I can attend events - nope. Purchasing membership last year and all I have access to is paying $8 to see an old movie instead of $13. How about I watch that old movie at home for the price of streaming. It’s a scam. The same people are at every event, probably using a bot to get tickets. After trying 10+ times to buy a ticket from the queue for “special” events I realized it’s NEVER gonna happen. Wish I could just get my money back. Used to love American Cinematheque. Attended a lot of fun events here and enjoyed them. Ever since they got greedy and forced membership and virtual queues on every single person, it has been a piece of junk organization. Don’t want to be affiliated anymore.

We were let into a movie that we didn't have a ticket for and not told we were at the wrong theater for the film we did have a ticket for. I asked them why they didn't tell us and why they let us in one we didn't have a ticket for. The official response was:
"For future reference, the event location is always listed on our website and in your ticket confirmation email. Best,The AC Team"
So basically, they'll scan anything and not check so do what you will with that info!

This place is gross dirty bathrooms dirty theater cant one of the hipsters vacum ever very rude workers,use to a nice place they were happy when you came now everytime I go now they act like you shouldnt be there so I wont be back.No parking ,over priced tickets and food and they will make you stand in a line in The heat for hours just to get a picture of a long line for instagram, disgusting some older people cant stand for extra hours for your glamor page.

Best "deal" in LA if you can get to any of their theaters/showings. I renewed in October and have already gotten my $$ worth in members-only screenings. This place is where a good portion of cinephiles hang. I wish they had more concession items but other than that, a great place for movie magic.

Classic Hollywood at its best. American Cinematheque combines Hollywood's 95 year-old Egyptian Theatre and the 75 year-old Aero Theatre in Santa Monica. The Egyptian was built in 1922 by Sid Grauman and held Hollywood's very first Red Carpet premier event. Grauman then sold the Egyptian and built the Chinese Theatre and the El Capitan a few blocks west from the Egyptian on Hollywood Blvd.

Beautiful place, a concessions area a little expensive but it's to support the renovations of a historic building so I don't mind. They play a wonderful selection of classics and new movies which I am beyond all the way.
