We started our meal with appetizers and had the birria Queso tacos. It came with 2 sauces, one spicy and 1 not. I tried it without any sauce and it was good. We also had the Mala Insana Napolean which was very good. I was unsure of this dish but was intrigued. The small bits of flavor with the goat cheese, pumpkin seeds and the crunch of the encrusted eggplant was a pleasant surprise. It was my favorite! Next, my Bistro Caesar came which was a surprise. I've never had a Caesar salad with bacon in it or dates. It had a strong lemon taste, which I was fond of but still good. Lastly, my Pan Seared Salmon came with rice pilaf and steamed vegetables. I didn't ask for pepper and should have, but i like to try it from the kitchen without added to it. The meal was flavorless. The salmon said glazed with honey peppercorn and I don't think it was. The rice pilaf was good but bland. My vegetable , I didn't even eat because they looked and smelled burned. I paired my dinner with a glass of Cabernet Sauv. With was very good.
My husband had the pork tenderloin, and he said it was good. I've included the pictures for everyone at the table.

The food was AMAZING. It was a bit expensive, but wow. So so so so good. The service was also incredible and our waiter was awesome. I will say- the restaurant itself is a bit outdated, but it was still really nice and the food really was incredible. I would definitely come here again.

Cracked Pepper exudes a sense of quality. The entrees are large and plated well. The Rack of Lamb was filling and went excellently with the fries. Short ribs melted with each bite. The cookie and the bread pudding were outstanding

The couldn't find our reservation.
They didn't keep our drinks filled.
Our waitress was difficult to find.
They didn't give silverware to the point my guests stacked up what little silverware they had into a teepee so it would be noticed.
My noodles were mushy.
They were out of two different kinds of alcohol so two of my guests couldn't get the drink they wanted.
Drinks were not filled and went empty for a large portion of the evening.
The best part was we had a forced $200+ gratuity in exchange for this wonderful service.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Cracked Pepper Bistro last Saturday evening. While the restaurant had a nice ambiance and the staff was friendly, the food quality was unacceptable. The lamb chops were undercooked, the Wagyu burger was burned on the outside and raw inside, and worst of all, the salmon made my mother and sister-in-law sick—and they’re still unwell. It was a bad case of food poising from the salmon…….

What made this even worse was the complete lack of concern from management. I left multiple messages for the manager, MICHELLE, and received no response until I had to call again myself. When I finally spoke with her, she was unprofessional and dismissive, showing no real concern for what happened. I even requested a call from the owner, yet still no response.

A restaurant should stand behind its food and care about customer safety, but that was clearly not the case here. I wouldn’t return, and I will make sure others are aware of the poor food quality and the lack of accountability from management. This experience was beyond disappointing, and I hope no one else has to go through what my family did.

We made a reservation and drove up from Porterville. Our table was ready when we arrived. It was easy to find via Google Maps and parking was available. It is a rather dark atmosphere inside with dark wood and dark banquettes on the walls. The menu is not huge, but it is adequate to choose a number of items from and several specials were made known to us by our AMAZING server. Her name was Lauren. She took very excellent care of us. After perusing the menu, we decided that the Brussels sprouts sounded good and the bone marrow which was one of the specials Lauren had described to us, just on the merit that it was bone marrow, was also ordered. I ordered a stilton salad and my companion had the soup of the day which was a seafood chowder. While there was an amazing opportunity to try a delicious sounding pork tenderloin, we both opted for the Shawarma spiced lamb chops. The bone marrow came out hot and sizzling, and you can tell it was intended for one diner as there were only 3 pieces of small grilled crostini with it. It was super delicious. Fatty, flavorful, collagen loaded and gelatinous, just as it should be with a hint of lemon, garlic and parsley. I could have just sat and had them bring me marrow bones on repeat. They were just delicious. The Brussels sprouts were very good as well, with lots of bacon and the whipped goat cheese was so good, whipped so well, it was almost like soft butter! The stilton salad was not lacking in stilton, or in bacon. Unfortunately, I forgot to snap the photo. It was 3 wedges of romaine, lots of bacon, drizzled in a honey / syrup, with some pieces of pear and a couple of candied walnuts. To me, the walnuts and the pear, served to corners of the plate, were not a feature of the salad, and while they tasted very good, I'm not sure they were necessary. The main course which was the lamb chops, were absolutely beautiful and delicious. This plate has been very well thought out and presented. The seasoning was delicious and the cooking of those chops was perfection. Served on the Zaatar flatbread was so clever, and delicious. The roasted fingerling potatoes tasted like they literally just came out of the oven and the grilled vegetables had gotten just close enough to the roasted jalapeños to pick up some heat. They were just delicious and the plate came together so well with the drizzle of the tahini sauce. I think if I had gotten a glass of shiraz to pair with the meal, it would have just set it off perfectly! Unfortunately, we did not have room for dessert, but all we heard about was the bread pudding and how delicious it is. Next time, we will get dessert first and try it. Yes, next time, because we will definitely be back! Thank you Lauren for the amazing experience and service!
