Your employment goal has to be within the parameters that this agency finds acceptable. They don't have actual career counselors who can guide you through the career research process. I tried getting services for a life insurance job and I was redirected, so don't be misled into thinking that they can help with any type of job. Some of the staff are great and have been helpful while others have been difficult and less empathetic.

For people with Disabilities!
Cons: The counselors have large caseloads and you often have to email/call/walk-in. They really care but are busy people!
Ken Elvington has been an amazing mentor. He gets it.
Pros: Print out your documents online and bring them in.
Don't let them sell you short! Come in prepared with a game plan- you want to go to school? Go to work? Both?
What do you need? Accommodations? Funding? Special equipment?

The receptionist is an awesome human with great energy!

Generally, this California State Vocational resource generates a lot of disappointment. All too often, the days when personalized service was the rule is gone. However, the impression that one comes away with is they are too busy to care for their clients. Big numbers and large data sets make this agency a large dinosaur that will eventually disappear-- my reasons for such a pronouncement are their lack of understanding for the individual's needs. Most clients who need their assistance have a disability. If you can get a counselor who is less concerned about their output numbers and more concerned about the disability, then you can assure yourself of finding a good job. Otherwise, you maybe out of luck.

Few years ago, department of rehabilitation at Fresno opened my case with VR counselor Devin Puente M.S for welding program thru with Advanced career institute. DOR paid around $13,000 to Advanced career institute welding program with NO ADA (American disability acts) ASL interpreter for deaf. I showed up class for 3 days, then I dropped out these program. Too much violent my ADA and deaf rights for last 32 years where I used to live other 5 states. State of California service at DHHSC (deaf hard of hearing speech center) they still don’t act their state service jobs. Those services betrayed millions of deaf Americans citizens. No wonder Millions and Millions deaf people very struggling. No choices they have to end up Social Security income.

Great guidance and patient people but be sure to be patient yourself due to waiting periods for a callback.
They do take quite a long time to get back at you and the process alone makes you lose confidence in them finding you a job.

They are only are there to say you are ready for a job or not after a 2 weeks bs test that will make you were on egg shells. Nice people but they lost their magic to guiding people and helping them.

Really not helpful. Terrible information given regarding disabilities. Maybe someone higher up should know what's going on during COVID-19. Blah blah
