Awesome beer and food. I’m a stouts and sours beer snob. I have been here a couple times with my family so far. The staff has always been great. The food has been great. The beer, especially stouts and sours are some of the best in the city, and probably the best for the price point.

Excited to find new place to go. But had to leave before we even had a chance to order our first beer. After looking for a hostess to seat us we discovered a line to order. We got in line. The line had 10 or 15 people in it and as others showed they signaled to those in line to get them a round. The bar staff looked nonchalant. Is obvious that after we ordered our stuff and sat down that the second beer would require us to stand in line again. We left disappointed. Maybe try emphasizing service.

Had dinner and the brisket was surprisingly great. All the beer I had was also really good.

But the service is where I think I was the most impressed. I bought a four pack of the favorite beer I tried but forgot to grab it on the way out. I left an email and the responded promptly and were cool with me coming back the next day and getting it. Course I had to have another beer while I was there.

Saturday afternoon and I've successfully managed to get in to Saint Louis without murdering anyone or bonking in to any other cars. That deserves a reward. So I'm at Heavy Riff for a beer!

Unfortunately, the one I really wanted was tapped out and the bartender recommended something similar. None of the others appealed so I tried a half pour of their dark Czech lager. It was good for what it is but it didn't fit my taste and after the one beer, I opted to move along to somewhere else.

I really like their use of lactose in beer. And their sours might be the best in town. Not to mention their sought after barrel aged stuff. I've sampled some of their food and it's solid, too. It's a short walk up from the zoo and an easy place to hang out after work

I came to Heavy Riff for a fun night with friends and ended up getting cursed at for ordered a flight of beer on a Saturday night. I emailed to share my negative experience and the response was a justification of their actions. I truly enjoyed my time at Heavy Riff, the beer and food are great but unfortunately this experience has tainted my overall view of this establishment.

Took advantage of the flight offering to sample a few varieties. The beers were all tasty. Ordered the soft pretzels with beer cheese dip. They were more like wheat breadsticks, but soft and dense — great vehicle for the beer cheese dip. Healthy crowd for a Monday afternoon. Picked up some merch too. We’ll be back.
