Okay wow wow wow this place was incredible all around! Our server was just a hoot, so kind and friendly and attentive. It was a busy holiday weekend and they let us make a late reservation and I’m so grateful! From the salad to the soup (French onion to die for) to the ribeye, all 10/10. Highly recommend all around! Make a reservation to guarantee an early dinner and you’ll be good to go! A must stop!

We love H.B.B. The French Onion soup never disappoints, and the service is always great.
Tonight, we tried the fresh catch special. It was a pan seared Halibut with Pistachio pesto and cheesy risotto. It was perfectly seasoned and really hit the spot!

Wonderful location with a view of Somoa bridge and part of the bay. Old building with lots of character.

It's unfortunate that they don't serve cocktails or we would frequent the Bistro more often. With all the amazing breweries and tap rooms in Humboldt. No reason to stop here for those options.

The food is good, not great. Definitely recommend visiting to decide for yourself. But it is a great option for eating out none the less.

Showed up shortly after opening last Friday and was happy to get a table since we did not have a reservation. Are server Merilee was attentive, personable and super friendly. My husband was so happy with his steak (he always wants the rarest the chef can do) our waitress went and got the chef Ben so he could tell him in person. Ordered the Calamari fries which someone on another review said was the best they ever had and I have to agree! They were tender and not overly battered like most places. The French Onion soup was delicious & savory. I can't remember what my meal description was because it was the fish special of the day, but it was Halibut on a rice pilaf with some kind of lemon aioli, topped with Dungeness crab. It was cooked perfect, nice and creamy and I enjoyed every bite. My husband got the Rib-eye and like I said he enjoyed his meal. I tried his and it just melted in my mouth. I can't wait to go back!

Best Calamari ever.. and I don’t just mean in Eureka, or Humboldt.. I mean ever. I’ve had calamari which I thought was the best in Spain but this beats it tenfold! At first bite I regretted ordering anything else because I wanted to enjoy every last calamari fry. The fish and chips I had was cod. Absolutely delicious. Definitely the best Eureka has to offer. The views.. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of the water. Just stunning on a sunny day. The decor was simply perfect. Such an incredible experience!!

The view isn't great, and neither is the inside. Its nice but not as fancy as they think it is. The food presentation was beautiful, and the flavor was good.
What they are charging is not worth the food you get, though. Two little crab cakes for $23 as an appetizer. We thought it would be 4 crab cakes, which would still be over $5 per cake.
Then the filet mignon was $45, which is fine because that is the going rate. The problem is that there is NO WAY this is filet mignon. It was some kind of roast or tri-tip dressed up. The grain was much longer and the amount of connective tissue in the meat gave it away. This is incredibly dishonest. I would not be a patron of this business simply because of their decitfulness.
