My new favorite place! I had no idea this gem was less than a mile from me! I saw the restaurant while attending the Madison Street Festival and was intrigued with the story of how Joe built everything but the beams and the ventilation system that allows cigar smoking without a bar full of smoke (it really works!). I tried several of their cocktails - all were amazing. The flatbread was fabulous. The band was great! Jasmine the bartender was incredible. The ambience was perfect. Truly a unique experience and my new favorite hangout ❤️

Nice restoration job great layout and venue. Sadly the service is some of the worst you can find in Madison. Great food I enjoy the wide selection of bourbon and simple clean menu. The downside is the steep price tag for food. The portions certainly don't match the price point, I'm on the fence about returning a second time

Our third visit. Consistently excellent meal preparation and presentation! Love the variety of choices. Service is superb! A good selection of wines and liquor. Super friendly and energetic staff. Jazz music is most excellent and not too loud. Live music twice weekly.

Amazing bistro in historic Madison! Joe did an incredible job with restoring the building with beautiful woodwork and ceiling tiles. Just had lunch there with my wife and son and the food was super! We had the antipasto as an appetizer followed by the chicken parm, swordfish steak, and chicken piccata and everything was great! Throw in a round of well made cocktails and we had a great time. The service was wonderful all the way around...if you haven't been there yet, you've been missing out! Well done Humphrey Brothers Bistro and Lounge!!!

Phenomenal, in every aspect. The atmosphere is incredible- you can come dressed up or casual and feel comfortable. We were in for an early dinner and had the place to ourselves, by the time we left the place was filling up for live music. We've decided to make this our monthly date night spot!
Get the polenta fries and the olive oil cake!

We’ve had great anticipation for Humphrey Brothers to open! Joe, Flora, and Devin did amazing on this place!! The food, drinks, service, and experience were fantastic. We had several food dishes. Pictured below. Highly recommend the meatballs and Italian sandwich. The strawberry Collins, Godfather, and Old Fashion that Devin made was delicious. And you’ve got to try Devin’s signature margarita!

Best place in Madison. As a few new places are popping up, I’m excited, but nothing tops this one. Atmosphere is worth the trip all by itself. Staff has been friendly, food has been good, drinks have as well. Haven’t had a smoke, but was pleasantly surprised by the live music. Loud enough to enjoy, but even sitting upstairs it was easy to carry on a conversation without any trouble. Totally different vibe than the other two restaurants down town, so you have choices. I love their ursine neighbor, but unless I’m just craving a beer, HBBL is the spot.

We enjoyed our first meal tonight. Two of us had the Chicken Parmesan, one had the spaghetti with marinara.

The Chicken Parmesan was tasty. This is not a thin pan-fried cutlet but instead was a nice thicker, cooked well breast. It was cooked nicely and moist. My sister said it was the best Chicken Parmesan she ever had! I found it extremely tasty and would rate it as one of the best.

My wife enjoyed her spaghetti. The bread that accompanied all of our meals was excellent.

We finished with an order of the Olive Oil Cake and the Tiramisu. Both were excellent finished to a great meal. The Olive Oil Cake was a first for us. The Mixed Berries and cream really accentuated the cakes taste. Loved it! The Tiramisu was also very tasty. Not overly soggy, it held its form and really came with rich flavors.

We did have the Bruschetta appetizer. Very good taste, the portion size tended on the smaller side.

We will definitely go back. I am not a cigar smoker and did not find the smell overwhelming. I can imagine if you were there during a busy evening where many were smoking, it might get stronger. But I think they paid attention to the ventilation and we had no problems.
