We recently celebrated our wedding at Lopes Barn. This was a beautiful rustic barn and great location. We couldn't have be happier with how everything turned out. The owner was very nice and flexible when working with us. Definitely would recommend for events.

Beautiful barn with a great location in the middle of no where. Demus is a nice guy that promises flexibility and says you can do “anything” until 10pm.

However, as the wedding got closer and we explained what we planned to do, he began to constantly add new rules and regulations. (No contract was signed, everything was a word of mouth agreement)

For example, the live music was planned to end at 10pm; but he added that it could not be too loud? That if it was, he would make you turn it down.

Furthermore, During set up and the day of the wedding he was constantly looking over our shoulders questioning anything and everything we did. As the groom this was really something I did not wish to be dealing with the day of my wedding.

So, if you want something small that will end early, this place is for you, but I would definitely try to get something in writing as he will change many things as your event gets closer.

Ask as many questions and get clarification on as much as you can to get it in writing; because We asked many questions but he would change things on us 2 weeks before the event.

This barn is located in the middle of Los Banos fields where hardly any houses are visible making it feel very realistic to a barn style event.
However, a big red sign I should’ve seen coming was that the owner tried to be a part of the event. From the rehearsal taking place on Friday to the main event on Saturday. He was hovering. It felt like he was trying so hard to be part of the event when NOBODY knew who he was. I have NEVER been to an event where the renter makes his way into the event to supervise. Mind you and me, he already has multiple cameras inside the barn.
The wedding was beautiful no doubt about that, however as the dance was barely starting (8:00pm) he aggressively came inside to the DJs location and switched off the power from the source screaming at the DJ that he had to turn it down. He started going off about how his neighbors were complaining that the noise was way to loud and that the sheriffs were going to be called to get us out of there if we didn’t lower the volume. Not once in all the events I have ever gone to has any owner been as rude as this owner. He was literally the reason everyone left at 8:30 when the wedding was supposed to end at 10pm. He is the main reason for this negative review. Because who in their right minds goes about switching the main switch to shut down a party in the middle of a farm at 8pm due to it being loud. It was a wedding, a celebration. The bride& groom paid very good money (2k or so) to have this wedding and was all shut down due to the owner.
Shame on the owner for creating this memory that the newly weds will forever have.

Owner killed the wedding, stoped the music@ 8pm caus the base bothered the mile away neighbors. Had his pitbull dog overseeing the event. port-a-potties for men, small restroom for the women. Flies galore in the winter cold barn. No cooking facilities. Dead/burn trees for a backdrop. Charged extra for things mounted on the building, like fake chandelier and white backdrop, also had to rent his tables and chairs. SAD, Sad, 😢 for a beautiful couple, that don't drink (no alcohol or drugs) just wanted a memorable wedding, NOW THE OWNER SPOILED IT ! !

The owner of this place treats his business like a joke. He came in at 6 asking to turn down music and then again at 8 threatening to call the cops and get us kicked out even tho the bride and groom had the place booked till 10. He actually said that he would call the cops to get us all out and that he’s done it before. Save your time and your money.
