Hi, my name is Joshua Ma. I am a current sophomore at Loyola High School and am truly cherishing the experience. I feel that the students at Loyola care for each other in a sense close enough to be called brotherhood. Everyday when I walk on campus, friends and teachers greet me before I even make contact with them. The academics at Loyola are also top notch. A sense of loyalty and trustworthiness is instilled in all of the students that prevent the incentive for people to cheat. Also coming from both public and private schools, I have never seen students who have had such a drive to succeed in both grades and athletics. Even though the athletic training and conditioning are very rigorous and time consuming, I notice that students are able to compete at the highest level while maintaining their school workload. Lastly, I would just like to say that I feel that Loyola students represent the ideals of well rounded young men because many students participate in many areas besides studying which include sports, theatre, Community Service, music, clubs, robotics, debate, and many other extra curricular activities that take in and outside of school. Overall, I feel that Loyola High School deserves 5 stars, not 4 , and certainly not 3 because for the past, present, and future; Loyola will make students of character, spirit, and change.

Both my sons are current students at Loyola. From what I gather from conversations with my boys, the student body is high-achieving in all facets, whether it be academics, sports or the arts, without being cutthroat competitive. Your fellow students are more like your brothers than competitors. I have interacted with administration, counseling, financial aid and the athletic coaches. The school staff is caring about the development of young men and will support you in that regard. Finally, what sets Loyola apart the most from other top college prep schools is its dedication to community service, and building an appreciation for Christian service through its curriculum.

Fantastic school. Gives a truly holistic education to our sons. This school does not ONLY make the students ready for college, it lifts itself to a higher level by influencing the young men to strive for higher goals, that can make a positive difference in our World. This school makes leaders with vision and goals... and it has done so for 150 years! (Father of two Loyola students)

We were so excited when our son was accepted last year (Class of '21!) and we have been blessed every single day since. Loyola has some of the best teachers we have encountered in the L.A. area (we are Bay Area transplants), particularly and including Mrs. Arney. Like many boys, my son struggles with English grammar. Mrs. Arney is known as one of the best English teachers at Loyola, hands-down. We had several alumni boys tell us that they had the hardest time in her class, but that college English was a breeze because of her. Mrs. Arney is fair, unbiased and definitely not racist as someone previously posted. She is hard on everyone; she doesn't care who you are. And with good reason. Mrs. Arney has the boys' best interest at heart, and it takes a lot more work to be a hard teacher than an easy one. So, although my son still struggles with grammar and had a "D" his first semester, I wish he could have her again next year. She is a blessing!

Make no mistake, Loyola is a rigorous school. Period. That is because Loyola is on a mission to mold boys into men, and that takes dedication and hard work. If you are looking for a school where everybody gets a trophy, everyone gets to play, and everyone gets an A, keep looking --- Loyola is not for you. But if you're like me, and you want your son to go to a school that teaches to the whole person, that is proudly Catholic and Jesuit, that gets that what really matters is become the best version of yourself so you can use your talent to help others, then you could no better than Loyola High School.

It took us a couple of years looking for a best fit high school for our son. We cannot be more thankful for finding LHS. Our son is now a senior, had already been accepted to three top nationally high ranked early action institutions (more to come) with substantial merit scholarships. Thank you LHS teachers for helping us in making our son successful in high school...and be the man he is for others!

Class of '55-Father Harry Carlin was the principal-hooo boy, was he tough! the education at Loyola is excellent! No one, not anyone, can beat the education we were provided-it stands in good stead today.

Yep-the girls from Marymount HS were the favourites to date as well as Immaculate High!

One of my classmates, Father Rude, has said mass a couple of times, and I have been privileged to be a reader!

do they still have the indoor rifle team? that was a very good thing to have-to teach us all to be responsible in so many ways-How about ROTC? again, it was a growing toughening experience and one I would not trade.

My nephew goes here and we came to watch the varsity play and win on Friday night. The football field is very close to the bleacher, which makes for an intimate experience.
