They have great cars. I couldn't believe the warm reception we received when we stopped in to look at a vintage truck. They spent a lot of time showing us around and their enthusiasm for cars and their inventory really showed.

Not one to usually write review although since my experience went so pleasantly I felt compelled to do so. Kevin Grubbs the gentleman that assisted me with my purchase did a brilliant job. In describing the car that I purchased while delivering all expectations. Made the experience that much better once I received my car. Trying to make a purchase of this caliber without physically viewing what it is your purchasing is a hard decision. This again is what has influenced me to leave this review, Kevin you did a fantastic job highly recommend!!

I purchased a 1998 BMW M Roadster from MotoeXotica spring of 2020. The car was listed on eBay and their website. I asked them to take some very specific pictures about a known problem area. They said that there was no issue, but only sent back one picture. Given their reputation I just trusted that it was fine, and purchased the car. The car did not have this specific problem, so that was good.

They were easy to work with and arranged to have the car shipped halfway across the country to me. When I got the car off the truck I immediately noticed several things were not working right. The car did not have any deficiencies noted in the eBay listing or their website listing.

Over subsequent weeks and months I discovered and fixed a large array of issues, some small, some large. I wrote up a detailed list of the things that needed fixing (some major like the front shocks, driveshaft, driveshaft flex coupling, convertible top system, and a lot of little electrical issues), and played phone tag for a couple of months.

In the end they issued me a check to help alleviate some of these issues. The amount I had asked for was a fraction of the cost of what I had to put in to fix the issues that were not advertised, and they offered me half of the amount I asked for. They were not going to budge on this, so I accepted it.

Because I can and don't mind working on my own cars, this is a 4 star rating and not a 3 star. If they had comp'd me the amount I asked for (again, it was about 1/4 of the cost of all the subsequent repairs), I would have given a 5 star rating. If they had not comped me at all, it would have been 2 stars.

Long story short, it turned out OK but not great. I would ask as many questions as you can and have any potential car inspected by a third party before purchasing long distance.

I truly appreciated the effort made to make my dream car experience a great one. Huge ripoff! I agree with other reviewers. It was my first classic car purchase and they lied to me about working on it for months. I flew out from Los Angeles to see it in person and I didn’t have time to bring a mechanic. Huge mistake to trust these guys! My first drive when it finally got off the truck ended in 10 minutes with it smoking and the transmission gushing out like a river of blood. I took to my mechanic who said the thing is not drivable and very very unsafe! Nearly nothing has been touched and they have painted over almost everything to make it look new. They took advantage of me coming alone to Missouri as a female. I will never buy from them again and my friends and colleagues (all classic car enthusiasts and celebrities) will be avoiding as well on eBay and in person!

At the outset, I did not buy a car from here but have been an avid classic car follower for the last 5 years and have visited some very nice dealers. The cars on the motoexotica site are about average to below average. Unlike many dealers, there is a wide variety of cars but no real stars. Still, if your budget is like mine, you are more about the chase than the kill. That is where my relationship with this dealer ends.
I love classics and own one at a time. I also understand that I would not let "anyone" drive my baby. But I am not a car dealer. If I was trying to sell it and I saw a serious buyer, I would let them test it. I appreciate this dealers' policy of a $500 deposit to test drive (refunded on purchase) but to me it was a trust barrier that was too high to climb over. I have been to both Daniel Schmitt and Hyman who had no trouble letting me test a variety of cars and I did buy one. Guess, this is the dealer in St. Louis to drive by - on the way to buy a car elsewhere.
