Great hotel is the historic part of Jackson. I think the location is just so charming and this historic hotel is pretty interesting.

Reception was great and the ladies who work there were really friendly. We were all checked in without any issues.
Our room was large with a king bed and a small electric fireplace. Not much of a view in room 203 as it sits under the stairs and faces the alley. We can hear people walking up and down the stairs and talking in the room across the hall so the walls are thin.

Everything was clean and the bathroom was spacious. Water pressure was great and the bed was comfortable. The AC works like a charm in our room.

Supposedly the hotel has a few haunted rooms. There was a written history on the sightings and also a book with notes from hotel guests on the subject. Pretty interesting!

Upon arrival at the historic National Hotel in Jackson, CA, following a lengthy 7-hour drive, I was immediately struck by the establishment's grandeur and helpful staff.
With a rich history spanning over 100 years, this hotel has hosted an impressive array of notable guests, including three U.S. presidents and John Wayne. Its stunning Victorian-style architecture is truly a sight to behold, transporting visitors back in time to the 1800s.

We've stayed here several times for ski weekends at Kirkwood and each time has been good. It's about an hour drive to Kirkwood. The hotel is historic and I like the old California charm. Breakfast is included in the rate. It's fairly basic and is good enough. It includes hot eggs and sausage or bacon. Our first stay, we were in a Queen room and it was really tight. We've paid a little more for King rooms the other times which is more comfortable.

Charming historic Hotel- reminds me of Hotels in Deadwood SD. Floors creek etc.. all good i love it! But Heat in room is almost non existent - froze my ass off overnight.The sink faucet's backwards-hot on right. The shower head water pressure will try to take your skin off- no control to switch spray or turn pressure down...Spoke with person there hope they fix things up to improve customer's stay there ...But cool place to stay.

Friendly staff. Newly remodeled. Comfortable new mattress and pillows and new bathroom fixtures. Single queen room was small and cozy, with good size bathroom. Easy parking. Typical light breakfast fare with good coffee. Will definitely stay here again.

I am thoroughly disappointed with this establishment. I was born and raised in California and moved to Illinois, we came down to see some old friends and family and to introduce my husband to them all. So we were very excited to be there. It started to go down hill from when my husband had a hard time with the check in process, and as soon as we checked in and walked around to our room we noticed that the elevator was dirty, staircase looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in forever, you could tell the room was halfway cleaned. It had a musty smell, sticky bathroom floors🤢 barely any amenities, no fridge, no microwave. No coffee maker, and dust covering all the surfaces. One of the worst things we saw was hair on the toilets and stained sheets, very poor Housekeeping. I am a person who just don’t have the heart to come to the front desk and complain, complain, complain. But, hey! We were there so we stuck it out. Breakfast was disappointing, barely anything to eat, simple cold processed microwave food, nothing special, so we just walked over to rosebuds, Holly, the front desk clerk was friendly. However, I was not impressed with the front desk clerk Kara, who seemed dismissive and artificial, as she went through the motions without any genuine interest, Her demeanor suggested that she would rather not be working, which corroborated the negative feedback I had received from my friends who live near there (it’s not a big town) about her attitude, and other issues she had caused in the past. It's a beautiful hotel, really cool looking with all the old decor. I will be coming back to visit California again in the future, but will not return to this hotel. Very sorry. It’s just unfortunate when the hotel isn’t very clean and you have someone at the front desk treating an acting a certain way towards paying customers. Especially paying customers who come halfway across the country.

Stayed during Dec '24. Overall disappointing. The breakfast was excellent, but the restaurant and lounge were closed. More importantly, the room was horrible. The king size mattress was as old and soft as the building, there were no lights or desk top in the room, the ceiling light was full of dead bugs, there was no nightstand on one side of the bed. Barely usable ...
