Great climbing location in the high desert. Solid rock formations with routes at most every grade. Camping and pit toilets in several locations throughout the area. Can get crowded on the weekends, but with so many areas it's easy to find uncrowded climbing.

My favorite place to climb in the area. Camping is also very nice and there is no charge. There are compost toilets provided though bring toilet paper because sometimes they run out. Also be sure to bring plenty of water as there is none provided and it is quite a distance to the nearest town.

This is one of my favorite sport climbing spots! Park and climb!!! Many routes of varying difficulties right next to each other. It's a fun place to go climbing, only about 2 hours away from Los Angeles. You can camp there at night, there are restrooms and even BBQ areas there. So you can plan both a climb and a camping trip/picnic which makes it a lot of fun! The rock is also great, not sharp like some other climbing spots. Gets over 100 Degrees in summer, though, so best to avoid it then.

New Jack City is an interesting area that is popular for rock climbing and camping. It is a free camp area with multiple camp spots, and unique rock formations and boulders out in the middle of the desert.

Large number of routes in a very accessible location. 2018 was our first time there, but did not encounter any of issues with offroaders, trash/glass, people shooting, etc, that many have mentioned. It was cold! But that is too be expected. The camping so close to the crag is frowned upon by some, but it is pretty amazing to be able to walk over and scope out a route while you wait for your coffee to boil in the morning! The routes seemed to be in good condition, only encountered 1 bolt that was a little loose. Will definitely be back!

If you manage to get a day that's not too hot, too cold, or too windy, New Jack City is paradise for sport climbers. The rock is delightfully featured, and there are routes for all levels. Come mid-week, and you'll almost have the place to yourself. Weekends are a madhouse, but still plenty of routes for all. Might be hard to find a spot in the free campground, though, but Barstow is only 20 minutes away. The campground is very nice, for being free, with concrete shelters, fire rings, and pit toilets. Bring your own water and toilet paper, though. But the glass.. so much broken glass everywhere. Everyone visiting should commit to collecting a bag of glass as "payment" for the free campground and awesome routes.

Lovely climbing & camping spot with lots to explore. Busy (even in the heart of winter) with awesome people. 10/10 will come again.
