First time visiting; in town for a weekend event. The place looked and smelled great, though quite empty for a Sunday at 12:30, I thought. I was in a hurry so I ordered a brisket salad to go. Staff was quick and friendly. Brisket was delicious IMO, as was the ranch/BBQ sauce dressing. Unfortunately there were numerous black slimy bits of lettuce that I didn't find until I got back to where I ate, and I kinda lost my appetite. The bottom of the salad may have been accidentally frozen at some point. Would be willing to try again, choosing something more exclusively meaty.

Great BBQ! We enjoyed our visit as we were leaving Cave Creek. Staff is very friendly. No surprise it is a KC Chiefs favored restaurant/bar. But they show other games too.
Definitely worth checking out if you're around Cave Creek.

Small rest/ bar side. Another room all pool tables. The bartender was very nice a lil overwhelmed. She was waiting/ busing tables cashier /phone orders n bartending. Brisket n wings were very good didn't wait long for food once ordered. Big selection of beer. They need more staff.

Brisket is good, tasty, and cook well. Pulled pork is ok. Ambient is ok.
Staff is friendly.
Pool table and dart is not too busy on Sat night.

Phat Turtle has excellent food and atmosphere. A great place to bring friends. They have Pool tables and Darts to enjoy.
Really enjoyed our stay.

Great place! Clean, stellar service. Donna was amazing. We had the Phatachos. Phat nachos, with the brisket. They were amazing. BBQ was great, Billiards were great, very well kept place. The owners truly care about this place, the pride shows when you walk in and smell the amazing smoke house delights. I highly recommend. Happy hour specials, friendly staff, great selection of craft beer.. I highly recommends Tank 7 which is a beer aged in a whiskey barrel, and it is SO supremely smooth. Served in a 7 OZ glass because it has some POWER, at 10% ABV. Get yourself a glass or two!

Wonderful ambience, great food & wonderful service. We sampled the baked beans, they were good, though a little too sweet for my liking. Chopped brisket was juicy, beefy with just the right amount of fat mixed in. I think it was from the flat, so it wasn't as fatty. Had the fried okra, they were great. Split a corn bread with my sister, moist, crumbly & slightly sweet.
We tried all the BBQ sauces & the hickory is our favorite. . The spicy one was ok, but a tad to sweet. Good lemonade & they make fresh brewed tea.
Will visit here again.

My husband and I stopped and it was okay. We're not from the area and thought we'd try something new. Physically, the location is easy to find and parking is relatively plentiful. It's a little loud inside but that's the atmosphere so it kind of is what it is. Our service was really slow. It took a long time for us to get any kind of food item. And when we did get the food items they were okay. Not amazing but not bad. I got the chopped brisket, cream, corn and sweet potato fries and everything was kind of mediocre.
Our visit wasn't bad but it didn't blow our socks off.
