NEAT BUILDING ! Lots of history since
being built in 1912 .They have a huge lunch buffet . I wasn't that hungry , so I had soup and salad bar for $9 . Shrimp Bisque & Swamp Soup were very good . House dressing was awesome, and the fried biscuits were delicious . My friendly , helpful waitress informed me that dessert was only included in the lunch buffet . I asked about the pudding cake & she told me to go get some on the house . Southern hospitality at its finest ! I hope I tipped her enough !

Me and my family had Thanksgiving lunch here.it felt like home. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting. The food was outstanding and our server went above and beyond. Highly recommend.

The Gift Horse Restaurant was an adventure all it's own. It's southern style buffet offers some of the best food in the area. It was truly a wonderful experience for the taste buds.

I am amazed at the 5 star reviews. This was my first and will definitely be my last time at the now coined “Bates Motel”. Our hostess/waitress/cashier was very nice and attentive however, the atmosphere was a bit creepy and confusing. I love historic buildings. The building itself is delightful but the ambience is off. There’s crystal chandeliers and white tablecloths with cloth napkins folded and displayed so neatly. The dinnerware and glasses are plastic and heavy duty stainless silverware. White craft paper over the tablecloth. Now let’s get to the food. It appears as your southern style buffet that your grandmother made. Theres mashed potatoes and gravy, Mac and cheese, green beans, fried chicken and fish. Then you taste it. The Mac tasted like the heat and serve bagged macaroni. Gravy tasted like it was from a jar with a weird twist. Couldn’t eat the salad with my two toppings because my ranch didn’t taste like ranch and it was chunky. Fish wasn’t bad. Husband loved the fried chicken. Green beans were a bit peppery but that was about the extent of flavor. To top it all off, my knife looked like it had already been used. We ate what we could, then paid $46 and change without tip! Fool me once but not again.

Excellent service and food. Buffet had ample selections to choose from. Fish, shrimp, country fried steak, chicken and dumplings, lots of vegetables. Staff kept hot food on the bar at all times. Also had shrimp bisque and gumbo that was crazy delicious. Atmosphere was excellent as well. Built in 1913 and still has stained wood slat walls. Decorated for a cozy atmosphere. Good for couples or entire families. Price was very reasonable. Parking was easy as well.

The lunch buffet here is full of delicious, homemade, Southern Soul food favorites and one of a kind offerings as well. The food is very flavorful and fresh especially for being served buffet style. The staff here is always kind and attentive and the atmosphere is wonderful! Such a gem on Main Street Foley!!

A very tasteful restaurant. The food was quite good and unique. It tends to have an older crowd. I sat next to a couple in there early 20s. They complained about what they were eating so I tried it myself. I'm not sure what it was they were actually complaining about, to me it was quite good. I also saw some people leave because of the price, for witch I was fine with as they were not people I wanted to be in company with. Think of the price like how some beaches charge 5 dollars to enter. It keeps a certain crowed out .
