I will say I do my research when we travel so I feel as though we were extremely misled . Our room looked nothing like what we were shown online . The outside is in extreme disrepair. I realized that it was a historical building and was promised a ‘boutique ‘ experience . The place feels like you are checking into a creepy institution. It was an old hospital . Smells old and musty hence why every window in the place was open when we arrived. The only positive was that the bed and the sheets were comfortable . The bathroom looked from the 70’s at best and didn’t even have soap. The carpet was stained all over . It is very noisy and echos . We could not wait to check out and will never be back . Had it of been advertised as perhaps a hostel at a cheap rate my view would be different.

Really enjoyed my stay. Large, comfortable, charming rooms. Neat older style architecture. Staff were friendly and helpful. A good central location in town if you'd like to walk to Glass Beach or some of the better restaurants and bars. In spite of the central location, noise level was low and I slept very well. Will definitely look them up next time I tour up the coast.

This place is a bit quirky, but overall we really enjoyed our stay. We stayed on the top floor and the view from the patio was great. We had a perfect view of the sunset. It took several stairs and ramps to get to our room so you should keep that in mind if have any trouble walking. Ft. Bragg and neaby Mendocino are really fun and peaceful places to visit and the Grey Whale Inn was a good place to stay.

The wife an I wanted to get away for a Saturday night so we grabbed a bag and headed. The building was constructed in 1915 as a hospital. The interior has all the wide hallways and the room has high electric outlets. Wide doos and large single pain windows in our room. I have been a carpenter for over 30 years and I just really enjoyed the building. Good mattress and nice big tub. I would go again

Our room was large with a private bath. The bed was confortable. The bath towels with large and fluffy. The breakfast was basic bagels, toast, yogurts, cereal, coffee, tea etc. Walking distance to restraurants. No rooms on first floor. Not a place for those who cannot handle stairs.

First of all, don't be fooled by the pictures. The outside of the inn looks nothing like the beautiful shot with gardens and greenery, it is on a busy street with lots of traffic and noise, and when you drive up to the back (the only way to park and access), you find paint chipping off the walls and the property abutting a neighborhood that's working class at best. The interior is not much better, at least not in our experience. When I walked into our top floor room with the innkeeper on a hot June afternoon and asked where the air conditioning was, she replied "surprise, there is none!", which was neither an appropriate or welcome response. She advised to open the window in the bathroom (thanks for the advice), which we did, the result of which was letting the street noise in. When we tried to close the window at night, it would not close, so we slept with street noise. And when we asked in the morning if the window could be fixed, we were told no, that would take someone to come in and do it, and we cannot do it right now. Also incredibly helpful. The rest of the room was passable, excluding the pain chipping on the bathroom walls, and you will find old grey ramps leading from floor to floor to get to the top floor, not stairs. I her defense, the innkeeper was perky and tried to be helpful with neighborhood things to do (there is not much), but it will take a lot more than that to save this place.

This place has a lovely innkeeper and she made our stay very pleasant. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. It used to be a hospital and they have done so far a unique recreation making it an inn. The coffee in the morning was exceptional.

This was such an awesome place to stay in Fort Bragg! The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Walking distance to the beach and to a lot of resturants and little shops.
The inn keeper was very helpful and showed us our room and the hotel. She even gave us reccomendations for places to eat and things to do! Would absolutely stay here again!
