I love the shows that are put on, I've been coming here since I was a kid! However if you're not a child, find the good parking in advance and walk to or get here early enough to wait in the parking permit line. Bring earbuds if you don't like the chatter!
If I could add something it would be signage declaring intermission during a show!

Nice venue for live performances, we went to see the nutcracker ballet put on by The Dance Scene Studio in Eureka there every year. Excellent show featuring local & out of the area dancers, was very well done & we thoroughly enjoyed it! Be sure to check it out next year at Christmas time.

Memories...The last time I was in the theatre was back in the late 60s when I was a drama major at the then Humboldt State College. It was one of my favourite buildings to hang out at. I was involved in several productions and even got to be the "voice of God" from the ceiling lighting gallery! What an amazing structure and what a great mob of people that building contained at the time.

We recently saw The Mother Hips at Van Duzer Theater. Sitting for the entirety of a show is unusual for us but the seats were comfy enough and the slope of the room allowed for good visibility. Dancing was only allowed along The sides, against the wall. The space was clean and well maintained and the acoustics in the room were pretty good.

Theatre seating around 800 people. Used for Cal Poly Humboldt Theatre, Dance, and Music productions as well as for Center Arts performances and other University events. ADA seating, good sight lines from nearly every seat.

Attended the GATE Acadamy Program with our 11 year old daughter. The dance performances were absolutely spectacular. We're looking forward to next year. I found a ring with unique engravings on the steps to the theater. I hope the rightful owner sees and comments on this post so it can be returned.
