The pros:
Lovely art deco style. Great popcorn. Great food prices. I love the old fashioned vintage reels before the movie. So cute.

The cons: soda tasted weird and ice machine broken. Employees were not friendly and on phones. Bathrooms needed cleaning badly. Chairs hurt the tailbone! Times not updated on website and no one answers the phones or calls back. Eeek!

Such potential in this cute theater to up the game in cleanliness, comfort and customer service so it can be a very special gem for the Coronado community.

It's a beautiful, restored historic theater. So unique from the huge cineplexes. There is one medium sized screening room and 2 very small screening rooms, so they are usually offering 3 different movies at a time. Best to buy tickets in advance, especially for popular movies.
There's a matinee daily that is less expensive and also a senior discount. Concessions aren't that great - expensive and not the tastiest.

I would like them to find a better way of letting people with tickets inside before the movie. People waiting line up haphazardly on the sidewalk, and it gets chaotic. When it's busy, it's hard to figure out who's in line for tickets and who's in line waiting to be let inside and for which movie.

Overall, I do recommend the theatre for the intimate, vintage feel vs. the big movie multiplexes.

Dear Village Theater Management,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my disappointment with the service I received at the Village Theater this evening. As a 20-year homeowner of Coronado, I have always enjoyed the charm of our local theater, but my recent experience has left me frustrated and disheartened.

My family and I arrived at the theater slightly after the scheduled start time of the movie but before the movie itself had actually begun. Like many others, we were looking forward to enjoying a fresh bag of popcorn with the film. However, to our surprise, we were informed that popcorn production had stopped just minutes before our arrival. When we politely requested that an exception be made, we were refused, despite having already purchased our tickets and being ready to make an additional purchase.

I find this level of service unacceptable, especially considering that the Village Theater is an integral part of our community. As a local business, I would hope that customer satisfaction is a priority, and that simple requests, such as providing popcorn just before a movie starts, would be met with understanding and flexibility.

I am disappointed that this small gesture could not be accommodated, and I hope that moving forward, the theater will reconsider such rigid policies, particularly when they impact the experience of loyal customers.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing how you plan to address this issue.

This is a smaller movie theater in the heart of Coronado California. It was built in 1947 I believe and it has a main screening room that holds a good amount of people and 2 smaller rooms that hold 34 people each. I love the vintage feel and the popcorn is really good.

Nice local retro move theater. The theater seems to have been maintained since its building to keep the original aesthetic. Even the commercials prior to the trailers have been kept to showcase the original experience, like the lobby snacks cartoon. Only 3 screens are available at this theater, which show current movie releases. This is a nice solid no modern frills theater, no reclining seats or IMAX. The screen and sound quality were good for a smaller venue. Street parking only and doors open 15 minutes prior to movie start time.

Intimate, quaint place. Theater we were in seats 40 people. Picture and sound quality were perfect and watching beautiful curtain roll up before movie was quite an experience for my 14 year old and I. Very tasteful.

I love this historic and vintage theatre! As a frequent patron who goes to this theatre at least once a month, I have noticed some things that have concerned me over the past few months. First, the soda is consistently flat. After complaining on two separate occasions, staff admitted that the soda was flat because of an issue with the carbonation. Yet, they failed to inform patrons of this issue before allowing them to purchase flat soda. Please, please, please address this issue as soon as possible. In the interim, you should sell canned or bottled soda in its place until the carbonation issue is resolved.

The second and final issue I have noticed is the rancid urine smell in the men's restroom. Around the urinal, there is always a large puddle of dry urine, which I believe is the smell's origin. My advice is that staff should tend to this issue ASAP and clean the restrooms between showings.
